The Early Years
I’m a small-town girl at heart, growing up in Winters, Texas. I am forever grateful for the values instilled in me by my teachers and coaches in Winters.
When I was in high school, trying to decide whether to attend Texas Tech University in Lubbock or Texas State University in San Marcos, I ultimately got lured by the beauty of the hill country and headed south. While I was at Texas State, I discovered my passion for public speaking, giving hundreds of campus tours as a University Ambassador. Coupled with my passion for writing, I decided to pursue my dream to become a lawyer. You can also blame my grandma for letting me watch too much Matlock as a kid. Luckily, I got accepted at the Texas Tech School of Law and Lubbock has become my home.
When I was about to graduate from law school, I fortunately met a couple of local business owners who wanted me do their collections. I had a start! And I discovered my passion for collections, which continues to this day! A lot of attorneys do not know collections methods, particularly post-judgment collection methods, and that is something that sets me apart from other attorneys. Some attorneys can get you the judgment, but they do not know what to do from there. You definitely need an attorney who understands and knows post-judgment collection procedures.
Big-Firm Talent, Small-Firm Efficiency
You may be wondering if you need to hire a big firm to get quality legal work and good results. The answer is no. You can find talented, hard-working, detail-oriented, and passionate solo attorneys. Often, solo attorneys will team up with each other on complex cases and at trial time to have a second-chair at trial.
The tools that every Lubbock, Texas attorney uses on a daily basis, whether solo or at a big firm are:
A working computer and printer
A working telephone
Access to Online Legal Research (and no, that is not Google)
On the other hand, the skills that make an attorney a great attorney can vary significantly from person to person, regardless of whether that person is practicing solo or at a big firm. They are:
Writing and Drafting Skills
Legal Research Skills
Public Speaking Skills
The Ability to Focus
The Ability to Care
Good Communication
This is not an exhaustive list, but you get the idea. In short, look at the person you are hiring to do your legal work, not the firm or how fancy the office is.
I take pride in getting great results for my clients. I’m so appreciative of the Lubbock community (and beyond) that have welcomed me with open arms and for all of my clients over the years that have trusted me to be their attorney. Thank you. It is an honor and a privilege.
I am accepting new clients and I welcome you to message me for inquiries.
I strive to serve every client with integrity, passion, and efficiency.
